Do ever feel disgusted when reading The Merchant of Venice and Oliver Twist?

You forgot to mention most of the classics. In classic works such Defoes Robinson Crusoe , Negroes are portrayed as savages, in Clemons works , blacks are ignorant, and so on and so on. The times have changed and slowly old stereotypes are dying away. We have a lot to learn even in the present day of equality and relations between gender and race. Hopefully, current generations of authors can make such ignorant biases a mere memory.
